About the book
Conceptual Foundations of Āyurveda – Śalya Tantra presents a systematic exploration of the theoretical and clinical framework of Śalya Tantra, the classical discipline of Ayurvedic surgery. The volume revisits core principles such as Śalya, Rakta as Caturtha Doṣa, Śaḍ Kriyā Kāla, Sādhya–Asādhyata, Vraṇa Siddhānta, and the scientific basis of Yantra and Śastra. It further elaborates Vyādhi concepts including Vraṇa, Dagdha Vraṇa, Aṣṭa Mahāgada, and Kṣudra Roga, alongside foundational surgical procedures such as Trividha Karma and Aṣṭavidha Śastra Karma. The text provides a structured understanding of para-surgical interventions including Kṣāra Karma, Kṣāra Sūtra, Agnikarma, and Raktamokṣaṇa, with emphasis on procedural standardization and clinical applicability. Supportive aspects such as Āhāra, Auṣadha, Rakta Stambhana, and Pañcakarma in surgical disorders are also discussed. By integrating classical doctrines with contemporary perspectives, this volume aims to strengthen conceptual clarity and practical competence for students, academicians, and practitioners of Śalya Tantra.
